sordward is a character from the hit game that the masses most definitely absolutely loved: pokemon sword and shield! him and his younger twin brother shielbert are introduced in the postgame and act as antagonists during that section of the story. i think you really need to play the games to understand how funny these characters are. there's literally no words to describe how inherently hilarious they are and sordward especially.
obviously there's a lot more to it than just "haha funny guy", a lot of people tend to find him and his brother annoying but i've always just leaned into finding them more funny and endearing than anything else, i'll straight up never be able to understand the amount of people who like genuinely violently hate these characters, it is really NOOOOT that serious.anyway, as for a more proper explanation: sordward and his brother are descendants of galarian royalty/the original "heroes" of the darkest day, hence my choice of calling him a "losergirl prince" on this sites index page. i've always kinda been fascinated by them as characters and by extension how i see a lot of other people write off their motivations and just them as antagonists in general, and even at the start when i first became a fan of them for some weird reason i found myself acting as if they were completely irrational and had no reason to act the way they did when the game does infact, literally spell it out quite clearly? the twins' relationship with sonia is very important to me for this reason, in how they could almost be assumed to be foils for her character and complete opposites of her, and how she's the catalyst for their entire plotline in the postgame. even if it's primarily the player confronting the two, seesaw vs sonia will forever feel like the main conflict and driving force of the swsh postgame to me. anyway, all that to say, i think them doing what they did is actually very understandable. don't take me the wrong way, i think they are 100% in the wrong, but i find it very easy to understand their motivations. they're essentially being told that their lives up until that point were built on a lie, and sonia's book just suddenly pulled out that security of believing they're special from under them, it makes a LOT of sense that they'd be annoyed over it.
also he literally looks exactly identical to sirfetch'd
some sordward quotes i really like:
"Hmph! That’s enough faffing about. I suppose it’s time to get serious.""Tch! To somehow have defeated the adorable Pokémon I go strolling with... You’re certainly strong..."
"Who is this ruffian to question us? You’re just someone with strange taste in hairstyles!"
"W— W-w-w... W-w-w...WEIRDOS?"
"Fwaheeheehoho! Why, this moment is so sweet, I don’t think I’ll need any sugar in my tea later!"(SERIOUSLY WHO LAUGHS LIKE THAT)
"My adorable younger brother is wrapping up the preparations above."
"I understand you want to get it over with and lose, but why don’t we enjoy this a little longer!"
"P-please! Don’t hurt my younger brother!"
"My younger brother is unharmed. For that, you have my gratitude..."
"No need for the noisemakery, young lady."
"Quite what I’ve come to expect of you, my liege: seizing victory even while carrying my weight! Loath as I am to enjoy this thrill without my dear younger brother...I am delighted from my toes to the tip of my hair!"
"If it truly comes to it, you may use my splendid hair as a sword!"
"If we win, I’ll be sure to give my dear brother a full account of our marvelous deeds!"
"Ugh, such tacky makeup and outrageous clothing. I see victory in fashion is already mine."
"Well, well, well! If it isn’t my spiky-haired friend! A fine stepping-stone on my path to glory!"
"Well, well, well! If it isn’t my dearest brother! What a happy coincidence to meet you here!"
